A little slice of heaven for your hunting companion
Nestled within the breathtaking beauty of New York State's Chenango Valley, Chenango Valley Kennels offers a haven for English Setters and English Pointers. Since 1987, our kennel has been dedicated to breeding, training, and caring for these exceptional hunting dogs, cultivating a legacy of excellence known throughout the grouse hunting world. Our passion for grouse hunting is unwavering, and we instill that same love for the sport into each of our dogs. We are proud to share our knowledge and expertise with fellow enthusiasts, guiding them towards a more fulfilling and enriching hunting experience.
- *English Setter Breeding Program*
We take great pride in our selective breeding program, meticulously pairing our English Setters to produce the finest grouse dogs available. Breeding takes place once or twice a year, primarily catering to hunters seeking loyal companions and skilled hunting partners. Our English Setter pups typically find their forever homes at the end of summer. We welcome these new families back to our kennel for professional training, ensuring a smooth transition for both the dog and owner.
Early exposure to birds is crucial for developing a strong hunting instinct in English Setters. Our expertise and experience allow us to guide new owners in this initial stage, laying the foundation for a successful partnership. Chenango Valley Kennels English Setters are renowned for their intelligence, natural range, and eagerness to please.
You can witness the exceptional talents of Bullet, our premier English Setter sire, in a recent YouTube clip for the television program "American Gundog." Bullet proudly hails from esteemed Chenango Valley, Bozeanne's Whiskey River, Grouse Ridge, and Tug Hill hunting bloodlines, reflecting a deep heritage of excellence in the field.
- *Training Hunting Breeds and Grouse Dogs*
While English Setters are our specialty, we extend our expertise to training all pointing breeds, from enthusiastic puppies to experienced veterans. We welcome the challenge of even the most difficult cases, ensuring each dog receives the individualized attention they deserve. We implement a robust training program, requiring a minimum three-month stay to guarantee lasting results. Anything less would be detrimental to the dog's development and ultimately compromise our ability to deliver the desired outcomes.
Training commences from the second week of your dog's stay following an initial acclimation period. Each dog learns at its own pace, and we encourage patience and understanding as they progress. We maintain consistent communication with owners throughout the training process, providing detailed updates and answering any questions. Upon completion of the program, owners are invited to observe their dogs in action, receiving valuable instruction on how to reinforce the newly acquired skills in the field.
Our commitment to maximizing your enjoyment extends beyond the initial training period. We are readily available to provide ongoing support and guidance, ensuring you and your hunting partner forge a deep and enduring bond.
- *Dog Boarding*
Chenango Valley Kennels offers spacious and comfortable dog boarding accommodations year-round. Our 32-run facility provides ample space for dogs of all sizes and shapes, ensuring each pet enjoys a secure and comfortable stay. Each run measures 4' x 16', comfortably accommodating one or two dogs.
We require that all boarding dogs are current on their booster and rabies vaccinations. We understand that some pets may have specific dietary needs. While we are happy to provide food, owners are welcome to bring their own. Blankets are discouraged, but treats and toys are always welcome to enhance our furry guests' stay.
Chenango Valley Kennels is committed to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for all dogs in our care.
