Trailing Tails is an off-leash group dog walking service based in San Francisco's Richmond district. Our mission is to provide comprehensive group hikes that harmonize work and play for your furry friends. We believe that a perfect hike is not just about exercise, but also about training, manners, and socialization.
Our Services
At Trailing Tails, we offer one-hour off-leash group hikes, once or twice a day. Our services include pickup, drop-off, basic training, and manners work. We understand that every dog is unique, and we cater to their individual needs. During the hike, your dog will get a ton of exercise and playtime, but we also include intermittent breaks for training drills and photo ops.
Our Training Philosophy
At Trailing Tails, we are firm believers in science-based positive reinforcement. We do not practice any force-free training or care methods. Our training drills are designed to manage the group or individual dogs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable hike for all. For good behavior, the pups get treated, because nobody likes working for free!
The Hike
An ideal hike with Trailing Tails begins with an unload drill. We want the dogs to exit their vehicle in a controlled manner because they're primed to run and hyped to see each other. Once we hit the trail, they greet each other, eliminate, play, fetch, explore - whatever they like. However, there are some rules: keep it moving, stay together, avoid conflict, and always come when called. For new dogs, they will be kept on leash until they learn to stay with the group and recall successfully, then they will earn the right to explore.
Our Service Area
Trailing Tails is based out of San Francisco's Richmond district and our walks take place at off-leash parks, usually on the south-western side of the city: Stern Grove, Fort Funston, Golden Gate Park, Ocean Beach & Baker Beach. Our service area includes the neighborhoods: The Sunset, Parkside, Richmond, West Portal, Twin Peaks, Cole Valley, Sea Cliff, and everywhere in between.
Transportation
At Trailing Tails, we pick up and drop off each group with a safe ACC approved vehicle fit for dogs. The bus is calm and quiet, most of the time. Pups can ride in crates or up front if they want. Because we have many stops, usually your dog will be out of the house, cruising the town, for at least a couple of hours. This service is not recommended for dogs who get car sick!

With over 10 years of professional dog handling experience, Nathaniel has cultivated a wide array of skills to create Trailing Tails. Jules F, Sebastian "Sebi" Y, and Melina C bring their own unique experiences and skills to the team, ensuring that your dog gets the best care possible.
