Our Story
Willow Creek Kennels is a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the Amarillo community since 1995. Our journey began when John and Starla Beard, along with their daughter Laura Teichmann, purchased a small kennel on the outskirts of Amarillo. John, an AKC judge and professional dog trainer, had always dreamed of owning a full-service grooming, training, and boarding facility. With the support of his family, John realized his passion and transformed the small kennel into Willow Creek Kennels.
From humble beginnings, our kennel has grown to accommodate up to 75 dogs, offering a variety of services to ensure the comfort and well-being of our canine friends. Our story is one of love, determination, and hard work. John, being the hands-on type, took on the role of managing, marketing, and fixing things, while Laura, our welcoming face, honed her grooming skills through seminars and hands-on training. Together, the Beard family worked tirelessly to build a reputation for excellence in dog care.

Dog Boarding
Our state-of-the-art facility features all-indoor/outdoor runs, heated floors, wide air-conditioned wings, and large outdoor play yards for dogs. Our feline room offers individual suites and playtime can be provided.
Dog Training
Our training programs aim to strengthen the bond between you and your dog. Our goal is to make training a positive and enjoyable experience for both of you. With our two-week board and train program, we focus on basic obedience skills and good manners.
Dog Grooming
