Mercury Animal Hospital

Mercury Animal Hospital has been a trusted name in veterinary care for over four decades. Established in 1972, the hospital was initially located at 2722 W. Mercury Boulevard in Hampton, VA. In 1989, the hospital was relocated to its current location at 2500 W. Mercury Boulevard, under the leadership of Dr. Henry McKelvin, who had become a partner in the practice in 1976.

Our hospital is a full-service facility, equipped to handle a wide range of services for our clients and patients. We specialize in dogs, cats, and pocket pets, and provide medicine, general and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, maintenance and preventative care (wellness), daycare, boarding, extended boarding (military), baths, flea treatments, and grooming.

• Surgical Services: Every patient that comes in for an anesthetic procedure must be evaluated. Our surgical services include spays, neuters, and a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries.
• Medical Services: Our facility is equipped to hospitalize patients for both short-term and extended periods of time. Critical patients are monitored throughout the day in our well-equipped ICU area, which is centrally located for constant monitoring.
• Referrals: The Peninsula Veterinary Associates (PVA) is a network of local veterinarians who have united to provide specialized care for pets in the Hampton Roads area. We are proud to be a part of this network and can provide referrals for specialized care when needed.
• Preventative Care: Our annual wellness exams will provide your pet with a thorough examination, which will help maintain their overall health and detect any potential health issues early on.
• Boarding and Daycare: Our hospital offers boarding and daycare services for dogs, cats, and pocket pets. We provide a safe, comfortable, and clean environment for your pet while you are away.
• Pet Nutrition: It is our responsibility to ensure that what we choose to feed our pets has the right balance of nutrients. Our team can provide nutritional counseling to ensure that your pet is receiving the appropriate diet for their specific needs.
