Abbey Pet Hospital is an independent, locally-owned business that has been serving the pets of El Cerrito, CA, and surrounding areas since 1958. We have a dedicated team of veterinarians and support staff who are committed to providing high-quality medical care for pets and outstanding client education.

Our Story

Abbey Pet Hospital was founded in 1958 by Dr. Linton, who transformed the business from a pet grooming salon into a veterinary practice. In the 1970s, Dr. Linton moved the practice to its current location due to the need for more space. In 1983, Dr. Lee Prutton purchased Abbey Pet Hospital and expanded the practice from a small one-doctor operation into a three-doctor hospital and boarding facility.

Dr. Judd joined the practice in 2011 and took over as the owner in January 2016, following Dr. Prutton's retirement. Today, our four-doctor practice is equipped to provide a wide range of services while maintaining a personalized approach to pet care.

• Dental Care: Our team is dedicated to maintaining your pet's dental health. We offer routine dental cleanings, dental X-rays, and other dental services to ensure your pet's teeth and gums are healthy.

• Diagnostics: We have an in-house laboratory and digital radiology equipment, allowing us to diagnose and treat your pet quickly and efficiently.

• Puppy and Kitten Care: We provide comprehensive care for your new pet, including vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and microchipping.

• Surgery: Our experienced surgeons perform a variety of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to more complex orthopedic surgeries.

• Wellness Care: We offer routine wellness visits, vaccinations, and health screenings to keep your pet in optimal health.

• Boarding: Our boarding facility provides a safe and comfortable environment for your pet while you are away.

• Specialty Referrals: If your pet requires specialized care, we can refer you to a trusted specialist in the area.
